Christians are taught they are to follow the examples set forth in the Bible as their moral guide, along with the examples of God himself, his son Jesus, and the other 'good' people in it. To be sure this is the case, we should closely exampine ALL of the scriptures in the Bible to see if this is the God we would emulate.

Epicurus said "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" In more modern times Steven Weinberg put it this way: "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

For a loving God who should be the prime example of good, he sure promotes a lot of evil! Sacrifices, murder, rape, incest, child massacres and more! One example is regarding the flood; why would a loving and merciful God flood the entire planet killing everything on it simply to kill the few thousand people that were alive at the time? Wouldn't it have been much easier and merciful to simply turn them off with instant heart attacks or similar? And what did the animals do to deserve that? Check out more examples of the God depicted in the Bible doing or promoting evil from the Bible itself:

"Then Jeph´thah made a vow to Jehovah and said: “If you without fail give the sons of Am´mon into my hand, it must also occur that the one coming out, who comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the sons of Am´mon, must also become Jehovah’s, and I must offer that one up as a burnt offering.” - Finally Jeph´thah came to Miz´pah to his home, and, look! his daughter coming out to meet him with tambourine playing and dancing! Now she was absolutely the only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter. And it came about that when he caught sight of her, he began to rip his garments and to say: “Alas, my daughter! You have indeed made me bend down, and you yourself have become the one I was ostracizing. And I—I have opened my mouth to Jehovah, and I am unable to turn back.” - "she made her return to her father, after which he carried out his vow that he had made toward her. As for her, she never had relations with a man."

- Judges 11:30-39 (Jeph'thah's unnamed virgin daughter burned as a sacrifice to God)

"Happy will he be that grabs ahold and does dash to pieces Your children against the crag."

- Psalms 137:9

"And now kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has had intercourse with man by lying with a male. And preserve alive for yourselves all the little ones among the women who have not known the act of lying with a male."

- 2 Samuel 12:14-15

"Every one that is found will be pierced through, and every one that is caught in the sweep will fall by the sword; and their very children will be dashed to pieces before their eyes. Their houses will be pillaged, and their own wives will be raped."

- Isaiah 13:15, 16

"And now kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has had intercourse with man by lying with a male. And preserve alive for yourselves all the little ones among the women who have not known the act of lying with a male."

As he was going up on the way, there were small boys that came out from the city and began to jeer him and that kept saying to him: "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!" "In view of that Judah said to O´nan: "Have relations with your brother's wife and perform brother-in-law marriage with her and raise up offspring for your brother." But O´nan knew that the offspring would not become his; and it occurred that when he did have relations with his brother's wife he wasted his semen on the earth so as not to give offspring to his brother. Now what he did was bad in the eyes of Jehovah; hence he put him also to death."

- Genesis 38:8-10

In turn Saul gave him Mi´chal his daughter as a wife."
